A quarter just passed already and known global firm IDC just got the results on what happened in the entire year 2017 based on their report
Here are the top 5 who made in in the local smartphone space and the reasons behind it based on their study
5. Asus - Finally they got a spot in the the top 5 since they introduce the Zenfone almost four years ago. Popularity and the competitive prices (sure on some of the Zenfone 3 and 4 offerings)
4. Vivo - their continuous barrage in marketing and their recent partnership with MOBA game Mobile Legends
3. OPPO - Their still ongoing "Selfie Expert" tagline and their recent collaboration with another MOBA game Arena of Valor
2. Samsung - Even with the recent Galaxy Note 7 mishap, they were still able to secure the top 2 spot, thanks to their huge success in Galaxy J series in different price points
1. Cherry Mobile - Their strong local influence and their winning formula of bringing a wide range of entry-level phones especially in the provinces as they still continue to dominate the local smartphone race
IDC also added that total smartphone sales in the country got lower last 2017 compared to 2016. It is also noticeable that there is now only one local brand in the top 5 which I am hoping for other local counterparts to bring in more might in this fight.
