Araw ng Kayumnggi is a whole day event organized by MyPhone and Brown&Proud for OFWs and our Kababayans in HongKong. It aims to celebrate our pride as Filipinos and act as Solid Group Inc's thanksgiving event for MyPhone’s 10th Anniversary.
The event was opened through a public mass for the OFW’s in the morning. The main event started at 1pm in the afternoon with intermission numbers from our lively and talented Kababayans.
Solid Group, Inc's Kevin Tan (VP of MyPhone), David Lim (CEO, President and Founder of MyPhone and Brown&Proud) and Atty. Elena Sen Lim (Solid Group’s Chairman Emeritus) personally went to Hong Kong for the Araw ng Kayumanggi event held last Sunday (April 8) at Chater Road, Central.
Inyi Yruma, Marketing Head of MyPhone, opened the program by sharing the humble beggining of MyPhone, on how the CEO of the company has strived and fight giant phone brands to offer Filipinos diginity by having a brand new phone instead of buying GSM or Galing sa Magnanakaw phones.
Aside from the fun, talent showcase of our Kababayans, there's also an ADOBO Cooking contest where more than 15 contestants joined. According to his speech later in the event, Mr. David Lim personally chose to have such contest because Adobo is a food brand associated to Filipinos for centuries.
Mr. David Lim thanked our kababayans in Hong Kong for supporting MyPhone for the last 10 years. He also introduced a new Filipino phone brand which aims to reach a global market that will carry quality Filipino products thru #BrownAndProud’s Barko. “ This would only be possible if we, as a nation, support Filipino products. Let’s all practice the #FilipinoFirst mentality “ says David.
Atty Elena Lim, Chairman Emeritus of Solid Group Inc., also thanked our kababayans in Hong Kong for being courageous and hardworking for their families back in the Philippines. To those who looked down on their jobs, Atty. Lim left an inspiring message that we, as Filipinos, are always "MORE THAN THAT!" and the Filipinos are a family of culture and resilience.
The program continues with more Filipinos showcasing their talents in Dancing and Singing. A day for our Kababayans to have fun and forget their loneliness of being away from their families back in the Philippines..
Our Kababayan’s went wild, especially the ladies, during the sign-a-long with Jason Fernandez, former Rivermaya vocalist, and The Voice of the Philippines finalist. He sung Original Flipino songs like Elesi, Hinahanap-hanap Kita, and Hanggang among others. It was when he sung Hawak Kamay that our Kababayans got emotional, leaving a message to them. "Basta't sama-sama at #HawakKamay tayong mga Pilipino, kaya nating magtagumpay sa bawat hamon ng buhay. Support #BrandPilipinas”
Araw ng Kayumanggi is indeed a successful event attended by thousands of Filipinos in Chater road, Central. According to Kevin Tan “It was an empoweing event that uplifts our spirits as Filipinos. It could be only a day of Fun for our Kababayans whom are working really hard in Hong Kong, but the message of supporting everything beautiful about our country will remain on our heart. If we work and support one another, in the near future we won’t need to work abroad because our country can now offer jobs that can sustain our needs. We can become WORLD CLASS, and that is Brown&Proud.” Says by the Vice president of MyPhone.
