I already encountered a number of drones from my previous media coverages mainly used for some cool up-in-the-air photos and videos but how about for some racing.
As part of SM Southmall's Cybermonth celebration just last week, I was able to catch some drone racing action with the guys of National Drone League which it happened at the 4th floor parking of the newly built The South Tower
The event happened already started at noon but our media invite has the sked on the event which coincidentally went on to it's final stages. Throuhout the day and night, they were around 50 participants from both individual and group stages. These drones are lighter and quicker in terms of flying speed compared to the likes of DJI Spark. Each drone has a camera which a participating player wearing a special type of goggles to see the drone fly in first-person race.
It was a delight that it's out first time that I saw this type of race which I hope will grow in the local scene in the years to come. For the winners, the group stage went to Group 1 (Robert, Gabe, Marlon, Richard) while on individual results, 3rd place went top Victoria Robert Battad, 2nd place to Alex Sales and the champion went to Gabriel Philip Villaler
