Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime Review

Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime was one of Korean-based brand's bets for the budget smartphone market this year so grabbed the chance to use it as a daily driver and here's what I got

On UI and software, TouchWiz UI and the combination of the processor (which I reveal later for some reason), 1.5 GB RAM and 8 GB worked semms fine in basic apps but do not put this one in a number of running apps as it will became sluggish. The qHD display is still in good quality but you will gonna miss some pixels once you play a high quality offline video in it.

The build quality feel is not that cheap at all

Calls, texts, LTE, WiFi and Bluetooth were a-ok on this budget Android phone but it has some inaccuracy issues in GPS

On benchmarks, there were some confusion if the J2 Prime has the Mediatek MT6735 or MT6737T quad-core processor. From it's launch, my first assessment that it has MT6735 so I took the 3 known smartphone benchmark apps in tow. Only the Antutu Benchmark gave us the MT6737 (by the way, the score at around 35,000) while the CPU-Z and AIDA64  said that it has MT6735 so it's 2 out of 3 for us that the J2 Prime has MT6735 quad-core SoC inside. In sensors, it was sad news that it only has 3: accelerator, proximity and sound. It has 2 point multi touch

Audio on 3.5 mm. audio jack is not that good, not that bad.

On battery, the 2,600 mAh went some distance with the video battery rundown test at 12 hours and 8 minutes. The 2 types of battery savers inside the software.

The camera, it will only work on daytime but on not so bright environment, it is definitely not a good thing like in our outputs

In my extras section, my main concern is the very small app storage on a 8 GB internal storage which is over at 3GB. You can really put in those small apps to maximize the phone. Good thing, the phone has OTG support inside

Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime is currently priced at Php 5,990 which is pretty good until a competitor with the same price powered by a more performing Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 with double the RAM and ROM plus more.  With my elaboration above, I will gonna give 3.25 out of 5 for the Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime
