Sony Philippines just revealed their next high-end device aside from the Xperia XZs. The first Qualcomm Snapdragon 835-powered phablet is here and will be available soon - the Sony Xperia XZ Premium
Present at the said media event were Sony PH President & Managing Director Nobuyoshi Otake, Sony PH Marketing Officer - Mobile Product Marketing Pamela Uy, Qualcomm Int'l Country Manager Thih Liang Goh (who explained the advantages of the newly mentioned Qualcomm SoC) and Sony PH Marketing Manager - Mobile Product Marketing Zhorida Lipayon
And I will go straight to the phone. Here is the Sony Xperia XZ Premium. You can check the specs on our previous article here
Front and back views - The glass wrapped around this phablet and the rounded sides really gave some premium feel to it. As expected with this Deep Sea Black variant, my fingerprint smudges appeared just in a few seconds that I tried it.
Left and right portions of the XZ Premium. On the bad side, the news is true that once you open the tray on the left, the phone will auto restart. The good news for PH consumers, our model is hybrid dual SIM version (which can be either 1 nano SIM + 1 micro SD or 2 nano SIMS)
The top and bottom views - hooray for the 3.5 mm. audio jack and USB Type C.
The Xperia XZ Premium started this movement for Sony's smartphones. No more auto mode as you will gonna see manual, video mode, camera apps mode and superior auto mode. In my previous Sony Xperia XZ first impressions article, I really hate the superior mode of it so I chose to do the auto mode. This time, no more hassle for me. Another good thing is, you can fully utilize the maximum megapixels that it can get on superior auto mode too (before, it is only works on manual mode). The manual mode has limited controls
I had some camera samples of Sony Xperia XZ Premium (one of the assistants there confirmed that I do not have a prototype device for this test). The pictures are as expected got some very good output on the outside daytime enviroment. The problem that I will gonna see on both cameras - only f/2.0 aperture which is against those flagship counterparts with as high as f/1.7 (there's even a midrnage phone with f/1.7 aperture) and the asking priceis quite high
