Looks like this year, we will be seeing a lot more affordable options to call from a mobile phone to a landline number and Smart Communications started to push this one a few days ago.
Recently, the said telco launched Smart CALLS30 which is an add-on to any Smart Gigasurf (yup, you must be registered to any Smart Gigasurf promo to avail this) which allows you to have unlimited calls to Smart, TNT, Sun, and five PLDT landline numbers
To call to a PLDT landline, it is just like you do on a normal call via your mobile, dial first 0 + area code + landline number. We have to verify if those calls can only be done in the same area code. The promo is good for 3 days for only 30 pesos
To register, text CALLS30 and send to 9999. One peso minimum load balance is required on this promo. The said promo is up until June 30, 2017.
Update as of March 14, 2017: I inquired via DM on @livesmart Twitter page on the PLDT landline calls if is it ok to use it to call to other PLDT landline numbers at the provinces if I am calling or registered from NCR and they said yes.
This is pretty good move by Smart and PLDT as the other competing service Globe Superduo only allows you to call landline calls only within the same area code (example if you registered from NCR, you can only do unlimited landline calls only to NCR-based landline calls).
