We got some info that a number of Energizer Hard Case feature phone and smartphones are coming to the country. Good thing at even on a weekend, Astig Communications gave us a signal to check in their soon-to-be-open office/service center/physical store in one on their newest smartphones and it was their biggest in the line-up
Meet the Energizer Hardcase Energy S600
Front: 6 inch IPS HD display, 8 MP secondary camera, on-screen capacitive buttons, speaker grill for calls
Back: 13 MP main camera with flash, Energize Hardcase branding, removable back cover
Internals: Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6737 64-bit quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, dual micro SIM, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS< micro SD slot, 4,000 mAh built-in battery
At the top, you can see the OTG capable micro USB port and 3.5 mm. audio jack. The pin hole microphone is at the bottom
The volume rocker and power/unlock button are there at the right section
The view when you remove the back casing. A bit of concern on the possible charging time as I saw the 5.0 V 1.5A output. On the other half, a pic of the phone with it's OTG capability
On the overall build, the removable back casing has a bit plasticky and rubberish feel. The phone is obviously big but it's curved back was helpful on one hand navigation on one hand. The weight is just right for the given display size and battery capacity plus it feels solid too.
On benchmarks, Antutu gave us 30,440 and has 5 point multi touch. The available working sensors include accelerometer, light, orientation, proximity and sound.
The camera UI was the one that we already saw a few years ago from a number of local smartphones. Both cameras have f/2.8 aperture which might bring a bad sign if you try to shoot in on low light. The image processing speed is quick enough for the given processor.
Here are the pics.
