It was my first time to review an item from X-Mini Philippines. For their first test, I had their many-in-one kind of headphones, the X-Mini Evolve
I said that because you can use it as wired, wireless via Bluetooth and can be as a Bluetooth speaker too as it has 2 speakers outside of each ear cup.
I did not have the official retail box but they sent out the entire thing like the headphones itself, micro USB to USB port and AUX cable.
Before we proceed, here are the additional info and specs of X-Mini Evolve
On build quality, I noticed that it has the circular kind of ear cups and very high quality foaming as well as for the upper part. The headphones can be a bit longer depending on your head size and can be folded for easier storage
On features, it has a switch for either BT headphones or speaker mode, power/BT pairing mode, LED indicator, volume up and volume down buttons on the right side of ear cup. The left is dedicated on the AUX. It also has a mic for making phone calls which is good based on my tests.
Sound quality is very good on mids and highs but it is a mixed bag for me on some songs that has extra details on drums. Sometimes, you can easily hear the beats. Sometimes it is not so detailed. Overall, it has a loud output for me which is a thumbs up.
One letdown for me are the volume buttons itself. I spent most of the test of this item on smartphones which it has compatibility issues on media apps like Spotify and MX Player so I had to adjust it on the phone. Instead of it's labelled function, it will play as previous or next track instead. You cannot blame on one device as I had a run of it on 3 different phones.
Pairing is a different story on this one compared to those traditional BT earphones. Press the power first and wait for the blue LED to blink then press and hold that button again for around 5 seconds for pairing. They claim that it can support up to 5 devices. Overall, I had no problems on switching back and forth on those 3 phones that I used.
The speaker loudness is a-ok for it's size in terms that you are in a small room and has average in terms of sound quality.
If there is one stellar thing on the checklist is the battery as based on my test, I met their claimed battery life of 30 hours on BT headphones mode and 6 hours and BT speaker. On charging, it took me less than 3 hours using a 1 ampere charger.
For it's price of Php 5,490 it is very considerable for it's build quality and it's many in one functions of X-Mini Evolve. They must need to check the app compatibility issues that I encountered plus only an issue if you have long ears like yours truly. If you are reading this review right now until February 12, 2017, you will gonna get a free X-Mini Click Red Speaker by buying only thru Lazada Philippines or Shopee Philippines or you can order via PM at their X-Mini Philippines Facebook page.
X-Mini Evolve Headphones for me is at 3.75 out of 5
