Vivo V5 Review

I am done with Vivo's answer to the ongoing selfie phone race but can this will be more as a good midrange main driver for me or you? Find out on my Vivo V5 review

The phone was based on FuntouchOS 2.6 running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with 1.5 GHz Mediatek MT6750 octa-core processor, 4 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM. I cannot help but to compared it to that other selfie phone from letter O brand. My number one concern will be the processor as there are some times that it will have a roadblack on multitasking. The mix of additional RAM and more updated OS are definitely a plus on the Vivo V5. As I already learned the custom OS from Y55, I had no problems on navigating except their concept of multi window. The 5.5 inch HD display is very good to me.

Vivo V5 does not have the 4G only option for mobile data but the LTE signal is stable at my home using the 2G/3G/4G mode. The GPS, Bluetooth, calls, texts and WiFi - same a-ok situation to me too.

The glimpse of gallery mode.

On battery, the video battery rundown test has the slight edge over the other selfie phone at almost 13 hours. The real-time usage was also evident. I got around 18 hours of usage with average of 5 hours of screen on time at 10% screen brightness. I will only gonna get some noticeable heat if I gonna go for over an hour on mobile data. Charging took me at around 2 1/2 hours.

On audio, their HiFi chip inside was definitely brought some improvements on your offline audio files compared to other midrange phones that I tried.

Here are the benchmarks:

On gaming, I only experienced a very few lags on Asphalt 8 and the best of all, no problems when I played Pokemon Go unlike on what happened to the other selfie phone.

The camera UI here has more functions especially on the front cam. On auto mode and panorama mode, V5 has done a good job especially on artificial environment. Yeah, the 20 MP selfie camera was also a-ok for selfies but they also had a good number of filters. My fave during my review was the Korean. Imaging processing speed is also fast

Vivo V5 has definitely very good for me in terms of looks, better battery, additional RAM, more tricks on the camera and output , the HiFi chip and more updated OS. I will gonna give it 4.25 out of 5 for the Vivo V5.
