The recently concluded Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime launch in the Philippines will not be complete for me without some quick check. Here is my first look on this newest addition in the Samsung Galaxy J Series
For this hands-on, I got the silver variant which is still pretty neat for it's low price tag for a Samsung standard
The glimpse of it's pulldown menu which is in white background (the same that I saw at the Samsung Galaxy A 2017 phones) and that 1.5 GB RAM in action.
Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime's phone and messaging apps. I had no problems on navigating on these two as well as some light apps.

I had a little time to do some benchmarking but AIDA 64 revealed that the Galaxy J2 Prime has 1.4 GHz Mediatek MT6735 64-bit quad-core processor. For me, it was a good move by Samsung as most of the J Series that were released had Speadtrum-based processors (Speadrum even had an LTE-capable solution) and that said Mediatek SoC is already familiar to me and some who might have those phones. The device has 3 basic sensors including accelerometer, light and orientation
The camera UI which has basic controls. Both cameras are in 4:3 aspect ratio and f/2.2 aperture
For the camera samples, I had no choice but to put the flash on as we were there inside the cinema. The rear cam has more than average for the said main shooter while on the selfie shoot, it is good enough for social media. Image processing speed is acceptable

This might be the best price-to-specs phone so far in Samsung Galaxy J Series so far in the number of J phones that I played since 2015. If the Samsung Philippines site is correct, the added LTE Band 28 support will also be in the mix for my interest to review this phone soon
Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime will be available in Silver & Gray in Samsung stores and authorized dealers and exclusive Pink variant on Lazada Philippines for Php 5,990 starting this February 18.
