On the reveal of the newest ambasadress of Samsung Galaxy A 2017 here in the Philippines last Friday was our chance for a few minutes of hands-on of Samsung Galaxy A5 2017.
Front: 5.2 inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass protyection, 16 MP front camera with f/1.9 aperture, fingerprint reader/home button at the bottom
Back: 16 MP AF main camera with flash and f/1.9 aperture, Samsung logo
Internals: TouchWizUI based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, 1.9 GHz Exynos 7880 octa-core processor, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM, dual nano SIM, micro SIM slot, Bluetooth, WiFi, LTE, GPS, NFC, 3,000 mAh built-in battery.
At the left, you can see the dual nano SIM while at the right, it was a different approach this time as they put it in the speaker and power button.
The top has the micro SD slot and secondary noise cancelling mic. The bottom, you can view the 3.5 mm. audio jack and USB Type C button plus the pin hole mic too.
Almost no changes on the TouchWizUI based on the pulldown menu and messaging app.
I jumped right in the camera app and no surprise that I already this set-up in previous Samsung phones that the both 16 MP dual cameras are in 4:3 aspect ratio. I am kinda disappointed in the pro mode in this camera as it only has limited controls without the shuter speed adjustment.
And here are my camera samples which is in low light at their launch event in Bonifacio High Street.

Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 front camera sample
Based on my first check on the A5 2017, the same Samsung Galaxy high end look was visible on this one. The front camera is definitely a plus but the main problem on the cam is you really have that pretty steady hands and timing in terms of image processing time for you to get a perfect time. Believe it or not, it took me 6 times before I got this perfect front camera sample. Too bad that they did not have demo units of either A5 or A7 2017 in water or dust to test it's IP68 certification.
Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 is priced here in the Philippines for Php 19,990
