Acer Liquid Zest Plus Review

I took me a while to unleash this assessment of Acer's smartphone with the biggest battery capacity in their line-up mainly coz of a huge OTA update. Here is Acer Liquid Zest Plus review

On your first boot, you will gonna see the typical Acer Liquud UI but you cannot resize the the Google search box. When you swipe from the left, you will gonna have the Flipboard-like function which you can have your own aggregated page for your fave news sites and social feeds but you have an option to turn it off.

If there is one noticeable thing that they used in this phone is the display.  If you will gonna take a closer look, you will gonna see some vertical lines and even more visible if you will gonna pair with the paper-made VR lens included in the box. With just normal browsing, games and video watching, you will gonna notice those lines.

In terms of connectivity, I had no problems in terms of calls, texts, WiFi and especially mobile data. When Acer Philippines gave us the trust to review this phablet and I found out that it is powered by 1.3 GHz Mediatek  MT6735 quad-core processor, the doubts of those dropping from LTE to 3G scenarios brought some flashback on me. This is the sixth phone that I reviewed and this is an exception. Even though that it does not have "LTE only" option (actually it's 2G/3G/4G option), I did not have any incidents of dropping 4G to 3G mobile net signal in all of my usual places that I go. GPS is also one of the best that I used for a midrange phone as I literally use it for Pokemon Go and booked some Uber rides. This might be a perfect phone for TNVS drivers.

By the way, the app drawer and pulldown menu look like this.

On benchmarks, the phablet scored at over 31,000 on Antutu. It has 7 out of 9 available and working sensors. The internal storage was supplied from Hynix. No surprise on the Liquid Zest Plus' 5,000 mAh battery as it got 20 hours and 22 minutes in our video battery rundown test. On my normal usage w/o Pokemon Go but with mixed usage. I can easily use this device for 2 days. With the said game, I can still go home at late night with about 30% juice left. Charging is also awesome for this phablet as you can fully charge it for around 105 minutes.

Gaming is also a-ok with some minimal frame skips when I played Dead Trigger 2 and Asphalt 8

Before the OTA update, I noticed that the normal indoor shots were kinda yellowish on my part which  became an improvement when the 400+ MB software update came in a few weeks ago and the color correction is more accurate. The 5 MP front camera is good enough only for social media stuff. One struggle for the camera is when you shoot it on some scenes like a random set of lights in a bar.

For Php 7,999 for a midrange phablet with 5,000 mAh battery and can do average tasks for gaming plus a pretty on-target GPS and connectivity needs, definitely the Acer Liquid Zest Plus definitely is one on my list. This will be also my recommendation for those TNVS drivers. If camera is not that much of a priority, it's a go for this phablet. It's 4.5 out of 5 for me on the Acer Liquid Zest Plus
