I am done with my assessment on OPPO's newest bet for selfie camera. Did the OPPO F1s deliver not just only on selfie but as a well-rounded performer? Well, let's find out
As I almost put in the details more than the usual in my first impressions post , this review will be more on words and camera samples.
User interface:
At first the ColorOS was kinda smooth to me on the first boot but once you go for more after a few minutes, I noticed that even that you already swiped all of the apps in the multi tasking view, it will only give you less than half of the 3 GB RAM which might be for my experience the thickest ColorOS skin that I experienced on the number of Oppo phones that I handled. It had some instances especially when I played Pokemon Go which I will tell you more on my extras. The ColorOS familiarity is there which I had no problems whatsoever.
Phone, SMS and connectivity
Calls and texts are on the pros side as I had a number of clear conversations. One thing that I do not like on the said custom OS is the lack on manual network search which is vital for me when going outside NCR. Yes, there is enable 4G option but most of the phones in the country has this option which is helpful for searching for that much needed LTE connection. Bluetooth and WiFi are also a-ok
Display
Even at only 720p on 5.5 inch IPS display, Oppo F1s still pleased me in my overall view for mobile browsing, editing some pics and watching videos.
Gaming:
You can play Asphalt 8 on high settings smoothly.
Extras:
Before I returned the review unit, I had their first OTA update which fixed some bugs particularly on playing Pokemon Go. I noticed that after you had 3 or 4 apps running aside, the said game will restart. The 10+ MB update was alright at first but it did not solve the glitch completely. One big difference, the phablet now has a gyro sensor.
Camera
Oppo F1s was a great alternative for me if to compare to the F1 Plus if you are into selfies but just that. It also has great output on various situations and camera modes which you will see below.
Normal to HDR comparison
Panorama shot works fine from what I got.
And the selfie camera shots too all in normal mode
Normal to Beauty Mode (In Fair Mode Level 4)
Oppo F1s is really in between the F1 and F1 Plus in terms of pricing at Php 12,990 which converts for right combination of camera output, nice usage, battery life (I can spend around 18 hours on this phablet), good design. Two not-so-good things that I am bit worried is their ColorOS inside and a bit of inconveniences in terms of multi tasking. I will rate the Oppo F1s at 4 out of 5
