Infinix Note 2 Review

Finally, I have time to finish on this particular smartphone which still has pretty unique despite of the number of phones that we already saw with this processor inside. This is my Infinix Note 2 review

Before I start, I will release this review first on XUI as they had the latest XOS update which I will gonna have another post in the next few days.

As I faced the XUI for the first time, my first impressions can't help it but to see some resemblances of Meizu's app icons but with app drawer. Some might be concerned on the 6 inch IPS HD display but this is one of the most beautiful HD displays that I saw in the past few years as based on watching a number of movies and loaded some games.

I chose the gray variant to have some less attention when I am outside compared to the gold variant. The side bezels are thin enough to still hold this phablet on one hand on some navigation. Some peopl might not gonna like is the presence of black bezels

Calls, texts, WiFi and mobile data are a-ok on this phablet especially that it has 4G only option. One weakness that I saw, not that accurate in GPS as I really played a number of Pokemon Go during the review.

OTG support was present on this device. I noticed some bug on this function as I really used my thumbdrive while blogging on the go. Putting in and out of your thumbdrive for about 3 or 4 times and you will not gonna see the micro SD either in the stock file manager or ES File Explorer which you have no choice but to reset the phone.

XUI has good RAM management as I can only max out this device for less than 1.5 GB out of 2 GB RAM in my usual normal operation from social, photo editing apps, FM radio and some Pokemon Go.

In terms of benchmarks maybe due to the bug display, it only scored at over 33,000 on Antutu which a typical Mediatek MT6753 8-core processor can do between 37k to 38k. The phablet does not have gyro but it has 6 out of 9 important sensors.

On video battery rundown test, it survived at 14 hours and 44 minutes from it's 4,040 mAh battery which is superb. In my normal usage, the maximum that I got here is 40 hours with 10 hours of screen time or for straight Pokemom Go gameplay, I got it at 7 1/2 hours on 3G. Refilling it with some battery power is no sweat as you can fully charge it at from around 65 to 75 minutes when the phone is off.

Both the advertised 13 and 5 MP shooters can shoot in 16:9 aspect ratio. It can really get some beautiful shots outside on daylight and quick on image processing time and also on artficial light. The selfie output though needs some improvement in terms of beauty mode and some color accuracy.

Infinix Note 2 rear camera samples

The Php 5,990 price tag exclusive at Lazada Philippines (minus some if you have the voucher code) is really bang for the back for the IN2 in terms of big and clear display, good camera, big battery and quick charging time and the XUI. Something that they must improve is the OTG bug and some color accuracy issues. This phablet is really in and out of Lazada inventory maybe for it's demand so it is really one value phablet. I will gonna rate it 4.25 out of 5.
