Cloudfone Thrill Access Review

I am done with my first Cloudfone smartphone that they offered with fingerprint reader. Here is my assessment on the Cloudfone Thrill Access.

Out of the box, you can easily distinguished that the phone does not have an app drawer but good thing I was able to put in Google Now launcher in this one although in going back and forth from main page and app drawer as a test, I noticed that the Cloudfone Excite Prime is faster.

The display is definitely the most beautiful that I saw in a Cloudfone device. I will have to verify if they provided an OGS solution even at HD display.

Calls, texts and Bluetooth connection are a-ok on this one. Before I got this handset, I am aware that it has a 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6735 quad-core processor. If you read my previous reviews with the said SoC, I had problems especially on dropping my mobile net connection from LTE to 3G. This is my 4th attempt and it also failed me unfortunately. On mobile net you will only have 3 options, 2G, 3G and 4G only. Even sometimes I browse on 3G only, there are times that my mobile browsing will drop to EDGE so sometimes I am connected to either to a tethered phone or WiFi. Good thing, the WiFi does not give me headaches.

The battery was one of the leanest that I experienced from a phone with 2,500 mAh battery. In my video battery rundown test, it survived from 100% to 7% in 11 hours and 38 minutes (if I maxed it out to 2% it might hit the 12 hour barrier). In real time usage, I can manage the phone in 32 hours with mixed usage of gaming, texts, calls, surfing and editing some photos with 5 hours of screen one time (just ignore the 3374 mAh thing)

On benchmarks, the phone scored at 31,207 on Antutu. Internal storage was supplied from Hynix. It has 5 point multi touch and 6 out of 9 sensors are working.

I am impressed with the phone's output at only 8 MP rear cam on a gloomy weather for a shoot. Of course, there will be a bit of noise when I brought it in low light. My selfie was also did a good job in terms of details especially on my flying hair. As expected, there is only a bit that you can check in the manual settings like the exposure and ISO.

For extras, the audio output is acceptable on the speakers and average on the 3.5 mm. audio jack. For charging time, it took me at around 2.5 hours which I have no complains as you may think the SRP. The back casing looks premium and as sturdy that I experienced on the Thrill HD and Thrill Lite phones. By the way, it also has USB OTG.

The mobile net connection is my biggest drawback to in this device (but looks like the processor has done it again based on my experience) but the rest of the key must haves were fine on the Cloudfone Thrill Access so I will gonna rate it at 3.75 out of 5. If you are planning to buy a Cloudfone Thrill Access, you can get up to Php 300 off via a voucher thru Lazada PH thru this link  (just look at the available codes either thru the website or the mobile app)
