From one Helio P10 powered smartphone to another. This time, I am done with my first ever review of a Flash smartphone - Flash Plus 2
The form factor and construction for me is a-ok with that sturdy back cover. I was introduced oncc again to another 5.5 inch phablet that I can navigate on one hand altthough the side bezels is a bit thick for an internattional brand. Like what I observed inn their media launch, I love that they chose a completely hot swappable set up for the sim cards and micro SD. By the way, the one that I got was the Luna Silver variant
You will be greeting with this particular wallpaper and this set-up after the first boot which is almost stock Android Marshmallow which had no problems to the underclocked version of the said SoC inside. Jumping in and out of apps is a-ok but I noticed that after a few minutes even that I completely cleared the apps, it will only gonna give you between 600 to 700 MB out of 2 GB RAM.
Calls, texts, Bluetooth and WiFi had no problems for me. Special mention to the quite strong mobile data connection that even I can practically use it on 3G. The LTE only connection option worked wonderd (as I am advocating it for almost 2 years) as I had enjoyment on viewing Youtube on high resolution.
Good thing that I got the commercial unit for this review. Like most of my fellow tech bloggers as well as those who got it via Lazada. I got an average charging time of 75 miuntes from 2% to 100%. I found out that the stock charger has 9V 1.67 amperes of output which helped to replenish the phone quickly.
On gaming, I had no problems on Modern Combat 5 and Asphalt 8 both on the high settings.
Audio via earphones is also a joy for me. The default volume is on the average. The loudspeaker was one of the clearest that I heard so far for the price tag.
I was amazed on the finger print reader of this phone. Even at upside down, I can easily unlock the device. There are some instances that the unlocking speed is a lot better than some midrange offerings of another international phone brand. I am happy that they implemented a system which you can unlock a particular app by a designated finger print. Big help for controlling my social media and other apps.
On my video batterry rundown test, it survived in 9 hours and 14 minutes which is average for me with the 3,000 mAh battery. On the days that I used it, I can max it out in 17 hours with 4 hours of screen on time.
I found the phone's weakness on the camera side. There are times that I had to tap to focus on my chosen subject and had some problems on artifical light plus the smoke machine that I encountered a number of times on events and gigs. The 8 MP front camera has some noise even that I turned on the flash. I can only use it nicely on a day environment.
Fast finger print recognition, nice form factor and construction, quick charging, good gaming device, overall connectivity and nice UI & audio are the strong points of the FP2. However, I hope that in their first ever OTA, they can improve the camera output and the RAM management issues. For Php 6,999 price (2 GB RAM variant), it can match up against some phones with the same price with the bit underpowered MT6753 SoC. I will gonna give 4 out of 5 for the Flash Plus 2 which is now available exclusive in Lazada PH both on Luna Silver and Gold variants.
