Ekophone Sage 2 LTE Review

Done with Ekotek's first LTE smartphone review - Ekophone Sage 2 LTE but how does it?

The phone has a bit skinned Android Lollipop inside of it but it is quite manageable from it's 1.0 GHz Mediatek MT6735 quad-core processor. Calls, SMS, Bluetooth and WiFi were are a-ok but I got a bit of trouble on the LTE connection which I'll gonna mention later.

The device has 8 GB ROM and you will have 2.58 GB of app storage but this became one big question that came in to me. As you can see in the Antutu, the OS plus other pre-loaded things (sysrem storage) eats only about 2.56 GB so where's the missing 2 GB? I will gonna ask the giys from Ekotek about it soon. Build quality is quite ok for me even that it comes on white. By the way, it also has OTG.

On connectivity, 3G is a-ok for this one but this is the 2nd or 3rd time that I got trouble in a MT6735 SoC as even that it has pure LTE only option, sometimes the phone will gonna drop back to 3G on oth telcos in areas which I knew that those telcos have strong LTE signal. By the way, the device has bands 1, 3 and 7

Battery life is kinda poor for me for it's 2,500 mAh battery capacity with 5 inch qHD display. On my video battery rundown test, it only survived for 6 hours and 17 minutes mainly that it gets some heat inside of it. On my real life mixed usage, I can only maxed out this phone for 14 hours with 4 hours of battery life.

Camera output is acceptable for me for it's price range with 8 MP main cam with flash and 2 MP front cam. The front cam is simply not that good even on social media as I took that selfie on a high noon outside the Samsung Hall in BGC.

Based on my gathered observations on the camera, storage, UI, connectivity and usage - I'll gonna give a 3.5 out of 5 for the Ekophone Sage 2 LTE. The prices are kinda tricky as of writing, it is priced at Php 3,149 on iTruemart and Php 3,899 at Lazada Philippines (prices may subject to change without prior notice) but you can also buy this smartphone at Ekotek kiosks around the country.
