Cubix Cube 3 unboxing in Rose Gold, official specs, first impressions, Antutu, camera samples

A week ago, I got a chance to see the physical looks of Cubix Cube 3 via it's prototype unit. Last night, a big thanks to Lazada Philippines as they gave me a chance to unpack the real thing.

Here are the front and back views of the box. At least, I can now share to you the real specs of this first LTE capable phone from Cubix

Last week it was gold. This time, I had the rose gold variant which looks more on the pinkish side. The back cover has a textile-like finish which is quite near to Acer Liquid Z520

Front: 8 MP FF front camera with f/2.2 aperture, 5.5 inch IPS HD display, standard Android buttons are in screen, screen guard pre-applied.
Back: 16 MP AF rear cam with flash and f/2.2 aperture, Cubix logo, single speaker, removable back cover
Internals: Android 5.1 Lollipop, 1.3 Ghz Mediatek MT6753 octa-core processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, dual micro SIM, micro SD slot, 2,700 mAh non-removable battery

The top has 3.5 mm. audio jack. The bottom accomodates the pin hole mic and micro USB port which is unfortunately has no OTG support.

The box also has micro USB to USB cable, 1 ampere travel charger and earphones. The bottom pic shows you the main window, app drawer and the proof that OTG is not capable on this device. At least it has over 11 GB of app storage out of 16 GB ROM

Here are the facts that I got from some benchmark apps and other things, The Antutu gave us a 37,161 score which is pretty normal for the said SoC. Basic sensors are visible like accelerometer, light, proximity and sound. It has 5 point multi-touch. Like the box said, it has LTE bands, 1,3 and 5 support which means it can go for both Globe and Smart LTE  when I had it on engineering mode. The internal memory was supplied from Samsung.

And the camera samples which are both in 4:3 aspect ratio and shot in a good lighting environment in a room in Lazada PH HQ.

Cubix Cube 3 16 MP rear camera sample

Cubix Cube 3 8 MP front camera sample

First impressions: One of the 5.5 inch phones that I had from Cherry Mobile/Cubix which I find comfy in one hand and has the right weight (aside from Flare X 1st gen). The image processing took around 1.5 seconds which is not the fastest but good enough. The camera output for me is good enough for the price but looks like Flare 4 has better results which also has the same price but in a smaller 5 inch display. One disappointment for me is not having OTG support which I hope the guys at Cosmic Technologies can fix it via OTA. (There's a wireless update app in the phone. No wonder if they can do it as it happened once during my Infinix Pure review)

Cubix Cube 3 is now available exclusive on Lazada Philippines for Php 4,999
