A few days, Kata Philippines had a different approach this time in their launch event as they chose one of the cinemas of SM Megamall to introduce the Kata T4.
Kata T4 has 7.85 inch WXGA display, Android 4.4 Kitkat, 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT8382 quad-core processor, 3G capable, dual micro SIM, 8 MP rear cam, 5 MP selfie cam, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB ROM, OTG capable, Bluetooth, WiFi and has 3,000 mAh battery. The goodies in this tablet include free MegaVPN service for 60 days which enables you to watch online streaming content like NetFlix and other apps. It is now available for Php 5,999.
And I'll step in to the hands-on part.
Front: 7.85 inch WXGA display, speaker for hearing calls, 5 MP front cam with f/2.8 aperture
Back: Small lid cover on the top which contains dual micro SIM slot and micro SD slot, 8 MP rear cam also with f/2.8 aperture, Kata logo
Volume rocker and power/unlock button are located at the right side.
Top: 3.5 mm. audio jack
Bottom: Dual speakers (to be verified)
A glimpse of the 8 GB ROM composition which I saw something wrong. I'll reveal later on my first impressions. The bottom part is what to expect on the dual micro SIM and micro SD set-up.
Good thing that both 8 and 5 MP cameras both can shoot in full screen mode.
Thru the Antutu benchmark app, it revealed that it has 5 point multi touch. Unfortunately, there's no mobile net signal so I got a 16,805 unverified score.
And the camera samples which as expected in a cinema, in low light mode. The camera shutter and processing speed is fair enough for the said SoC.

First impressions: On the good side, I like that Kata had dual micro SIM slots for this 3G-capable tablet (most of the local tablets that I encountered have dual regular SIM slots), good build quality, nice display and quite light for it's size. The bad one continues on what I saw on the the previous Kata smartphones that I reviewed - not unified storage. It only has 1.97 GB app storage out of 8 GB ROM. If you'll sum up with the pre-installed apps, it will go down to 1.01 GB (based on the demo unit) which is a no-no for me and those who will download some heavy games. I hope the people at Kata will gonna change that very soon.
