Cubix Cube 2 specs, first impressions, camera samples, benchmarks

Lazada Philippines gave me and some of my fellow bloggers to check out the upcoming follow-up to Cubix, the online smartphone brand of Cherry Mobile. Here's the Cubix Cube 2.

Front: 5.7 inch IPS OGS Full HD display, 8 MP front camera and standard Android buttons down there
Back: 13 MP rear camera with flash, dual speakers & Cubix Cube and that 2 small metal bearings which I have to confirm on it's purpose.  No removable back cover.
Internals: 1.7 GHz Mediatek MT6592 octa-core processor, Android 4.4 Kitkat, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, non-removable 3,500 mAh battery

Left: 3.5 mm. audio jack with cap (which also doubles as a sim ejector tray) & noise cancelling mic.
Right: Volume rocker, power/unlock button, dual micro SIM trays, OTG capable micro USB port

I will not gonna include the top part of the picture as you only saw the usual pin hole mic at the bottom.

A glimpse of the UI inside the Cube 2. The pulldown menu is really not stock Android Kitkat but I love the number of controls there. There are also a lot of options on the smart wake feature & this phone showed something - it's OTG capable

The Antutu benchamark said it has 30,012 verified score.

Good job for this device as it has 7 sensors including accelerometer, light, orientation, proximity, gyro, sound and magnetic. Wow for gamers as it has 10 point multi touch.

And the camera samples show in artificial light in AIM Conference Center. Good thing that the advertised camera qualities can both shoot on 16:9 aspect ratio. The main cam is at f/2,2 aperture while it's f/2.8 for the selfie camera

Cubix Cube 2 13 MP rear camera sample (no flash, tap to focus applied at the flower)

Cubix Cube 2 8 MP front camera sample

Based on my first impressions,

Pros: Good FHD display, quite light despite for it's size, NFC, snappy enough for this 2013 made SoC, USB OTG capable. good enough camera compared to the 1st Cubix Cube
Cons: Back cover prone to finger prints as it was made from plastic, no micro SD slot, kinda old school processor, a bit slow on cam shutter speed

Cubix Cube 2 will be available this November 11, 2015 at Lazada Philippines as part of their Online Revolution Sale for Php 4,999. I will appreciate it if you'll gona buy thru this link
