We are getting more benefits from the Near Field Communication (NFC) by this year. Another one on the list as leading health care provider Philcare joined forces with Samsung Electronics Philippines to provide the country's first NFC-powered membership card which caters to health services from their partner hospitals.
I tried out my own PhilCare NFC-enabled card with a Samsung smartphone with NFC and the information is clear and reading the data is quite fast. Good thing that in case that you lost your card and someone tried to use it, they can easily disable it by calling thru their hotlines.
The data contains the coverage, member benefits and other details of the member. As for this project, the card will only work for Samsung smartphones with NFC. Most of their partner hospitals around the country are all ready for the NFC terminals for these transactions.
That adds more convenience to their members as well as to partner hospitals as the transaction/s will be faster, more efficient and almost paperless.
