BS Mobile Gravity official specs, first impressions, Antutu, camera samples

Another #RNTDFirst on the list again. Last weekend, I got an exclusive invite from their GM to go to BS Mobile's main office to check the brand's current flagship phone. This is the BS Mobile Gravity.

I'm not gonna use the word "unboxing" on this one as one of the brand owners Mr. Billie Tan personally allowed me to check this Gravity unit. They confirmed that this is the final unit of the device

The front has 5.5 inch IPS HD display, 8 MP AF selfie camera with f/2.8 aperture and standard Android capacitive buttons (lights in red). The back has 13 MP AF rear camera with flash & f/2.8 aperture, swipe typer fingerprint sensor and BS Mobile logo. The internals got 1.7 GHz Mediatek MT6752 octa-core processor, Android 4.4 Kitkat, LTE, dual SIM (1 regular, 1 micro), NFC, micro SD slot and 3,500 mAh removable Li-ioN battery. Of course, the back cover is removable, too.

The top has USB-OTG capable micro USB port and 3.5 mm. audio jack. The bottom has real dual speakers (as I tested it) and pin hole microphone.

Volume buttons at the left, power/unlock button at the right.

Underneath the device and the free protective case.

A glimpse of the main page and the app drawer which is not really 100% stock Android Kitkat.

The fingerprint sensor can register up to 3 fingers. The set-up is quite easy despite of its swipe type technology. There's also a face unlock which works nicely too. One on the "cons" of this device, out of 16 GB ROM, you can only get in 2.9 GB of app storage.

A look at the pulldown menu and the storage in the settings section. Yes, it has OTG capability.

Going on to the benchmarks, we have to consider the over 34,000 verified score on Antutu (even I already did the necessary things). I tested it in a quite warm temperature, a sign that Sir Billie already used the device for a few hours with WiFi on. I don't have enough time to cool it down. Thru the said SoC, I usually got around over 40,000  The display has 5 point multi touch.

And the camera samples. Good thing that both cameras can shoot at 16:9 aspect ratio at their advertised MPs. Shutter speed is fast as expected. Shot in a good lighting environment in their conference room.

Unfortunately, I can't test the LTE speeds of this device as both telcos don't have LTE signal in their main office (as my fellow tech bloggers also witnessed it during our first media visit with the brand)

First impressions:

Pros: Good build, solid grip, only one so far vs. competitors with the same SoC with finger print sensor and NFC, good sound quality on earphones (as I also noticed it on today's 64-bit SoCs by Mediatek), USB OTG capable, removable battery, huge battery capacity based on numbers and display size. real dual speakers. Fast camera shutter speed, good camera output (based on good ligthing environment)

Cons: A bit high price versus other brands with the same SoC (but I have to consider the extra huge battery, NFC and fingerprint sensor), still at Android Kitkat, small app storage out of 16 GB ROM (not unified storage)

BS Mobile Gravity is now available for Php 9,999 in BS Mobile kiosks around the country, can be ordered and delivered nationwide by sending a PM at their FB page at fb.me/bsmobilepage or at Lazada Philippines thru this link
