Asus Zenfone Selfie first impressions, camera sample, Philippines price

It gave me a wow factor when they first introduced it at Computex 2015 and now at the PH edition of Zenfestival 2015 last weekend, I grabbed the chance to have a look of the Asus Zenfone Selfie.

The front has the unusual placing of the speakers for hearing your calls, plus the dual tone flash and 13 MP front camera and 5.5 inch IPS Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 4. The back has the laser AF sensor, 13 MP rear camera with dual tone flash, volume rocker, single speaker and Asus logo. Of all the 3 available colors, I choose the light blue on their display (and if I gonna buy this device)

Power/unlock button, noise cancelling mic and 3.5 mm. audio jack at the top. Pin hole mic and micro USB port at the bottom.

These are some of the apps and their appearance based on the demo unit that I had. A typical Zen UI look that most of Zenfone fans love.

Both 13 MP cameras are in 4:3 aspect which I don't like sometimes (I always go for 16:9 aspect ratio except for Instagram purposes) which I hope the global mobile brand will chance in their upcoming Zenfones.

Out of 32 GB ROM, you have a big 25+ GB of app storage which is a welcome news for those who love to stack games and apps. Yes, it's so tempting to put in some games with it's 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor. One thing that I hate (just like in my previous Asus Zenfone 2 review) that there's no 4G only option for connectivity. It is quite criticial for me for places that have only 1-2 LTE signal bars but still capable for heavy browsing tasks like watching a livestream.

Here's the 13 MP rear camera sample taken in a good lighting environment at the media lounge at Green Sun

For my brief encounter at the Selfie, I love the overall UI experience and the form factor that I loved on the 1.8 GHz variant of Asus Zenfone 2. I already mentioned my cons so far which I hope Asus can address this especially on the connectivity side which has that option in most of LTE phones from various local brands that I tested.

The 3 GB RAM/32 GB ROM variant of Asus Zenfone Selfie is the one that is available soon for Philippine market for Php 11.995.
