More info and tidbits from local brand BS Mobile

The part 2 of our conversation with Mr. Philip Ortiz, BS Mobile General Manager (from my first encounter with him with their recent launch at SM Bicutan) continued yesterday this time with my fellow known tech and lifestyle bloggers and media as we had a fun gathering at their HQ in Paranaque City.

This time, Sir Philip brought in 2 from their technical crew as they knew that we will gonna threw in some tech-related stuff. Good thing with the brand's first call of introduction to us bloggers & media is the story of the brand which was born in October 12, 2012. Most of their branches and kiosks around the country are located either in 2 of the leading mall chains, SM and Robinsons. That really propelled their sales especially in the provinces.

BS Mobile GM Philip Ortiz led the charge in their presentation at their conference room

They admitted that most of their sales are really came in from feature phones and entry-level Android phones. He also shared the milestones that they had from their first endorser Francheska Farr and then to 2 Kapuso stars Aljur Abrenica and Louise delos Reyes. Added to that are their number of ads from TV (like in Unang Hirit), in various concert sponsorships and print ad and now they stepped up the game as they allowed us to tell this story and as well check their devices soon.

The GM and the "B" in BS Mobile - owner Mr. Billie Tan (S is for his wife Sally)

The GM was also proud about their number of sales from their Php 99 feature phone promo for senior citizens in SM Dasmarinas, another Php 199 feature phone promo in one of SM Malls and probably their most successful mall launch so far in their tour in SM Novaliches which they had about half a million pesos worth of sales from various devices on their first day and the lines were really long and they didn't have a problem on the demand.

We noticed that the brand is now on Lazada Philippines which I also asked on their GM. He said at first, they were only at Lazada Marketplace but when the online shopping site noticed the strength of the brand that's why we can now able to buy their products which is for me is an equalizer or another option in this stiff local smartphone battle. They also have some plans to have some exposure on telcos via postpaid plans.

We were lucky that their cheerful owner Mr. Billie Tan appeared at the conference room (as the GM requested, in Tagalog please). I asked on BS Mobile's vision during their early days. He answered to provide quality phones at low prices. He is even proud that they will gonna launch some affordable LTE smartphones that are really at good prices (which you'll gonna see in my blog posts)

I also asked the GM on their competitive pricing of their powerbanks (I saw this as early as last year and Mi powerbanks is only their strongest competitior) which in my own opinion that I didn't give that much exposure (Teaser: I will gonna review one of their powerbanks soon). Unfortunately, they cannot verify the batteries inside are made from brands that we already knew that have expertise in batteries but let's see in one of their powerbank variants soon.

On aftersales, they revealed that you can claim your repaired phone within the day in their service center. In Android phones, they said that they only had 10% returns. I threw a hypothethical question in one of their technical personnel as I asked on the cost if I have a shattered BS Mobile Yolo screen (the SRP of it so far is at Php 3999) and he answered that it will only cost me at Php 300 which is a very good price for the repair cost/smartphone SRP ratio. The GM added that one of the reasons that they have lower repair price tag is they don't charge on service fees. You can get my point on this hypothetical question with this article on SKK Mobile Lynx display repair (another #RNTDFirst)

The company revealed that they will have their 3rd anniversary event this year at SM Mall of Asia which they promised that we will gonna more smartphones aside from what they had presented in their HQ yesterday.
