Finally, I got time to share to you on what to expect on one of the octa-core devices of Kata - here's my Kata i4 review.
The main page and app drawer of i4 pretty looks like the stock Android Kitkat that I previously experienced on some of the Android Kitkat phones that I reviewed. It's a no brainer that I had no effort on app transitions.
Of course, I encountered the stock phone and messaging apps which I got no problems in sending and receiving SMS as well for incoming and outgoing calls. Good thing that I didn't get any dropped calls.
The "control center" is also one thing that I also expected in most of stock Android Kitkat phones. On 32 GB ROM of the device, I'm quite sad that the brand still don't adapt the "unified storage" thing which I only got 22 GB of app storage but at least it is already good enough. I am hoping for future Kata devices with unified storage soon.
On benchmarks, I got over 30,000 unverified score on Antutu, 5 point multi-touch on it's display, same thing on CPU-Z. One thing on concern for me is the low FPS that I got from Nenamark.
On my battery test, my rating is on the average side as it has a higher MT6592 clock speed at 1.7 GHz. Based on my experience in terms of endurance for battery life, I'll go for the 1.4 GHz variant. I used MX Player with both 10 on volume and MX Player brightness, 1 sim on, no Bluetooth, WiFi, and mobile net and using it's stock earphones with random HD MP4 videos. I noticed that it easily gets hot on the metal sidings of the device.
Pros: Nice display, premium feel, good in terms of mobile net, calls and texts. nice camera output
Cons: A bit heavy compared to other octa-core counterparts, doesn't have unified storage, no micro SD slot.
I'll gonna give a 3.5 out of 5 for the Kata i4. Kata i4 is still available in Kata kiosks and authorized resellers for Php 8,999
