Ekotek Ekotab Encore 2 Tablet first impressions, Antutu, specs, price

With the help of of my fellow tech blogger Peter of GeekyPinas, I was able to check Ekotek's newest budget Android tablet which is Ekotek Ekotab Encore Tablet 2.

Oh, there's a lot of Es there. This is what to expect on the front and back portions of the box. If you'll gonna take a closer look, you'll gonna almost the entire specs of the product.

The front has 7 inch WVGA display and VGA camera while at the back, it has 2 MP rear camera, one speaker and Ekotab Encore 2 logo. The back cover is non-removable and it has 2,500 mAh battery. The back cover reminds me a bit of Xiaomi Redmi 2 in terms of texture. The tablet has Android 4.4 Kitkat OS

In portrait mode, the top has 3.5 mm. non-CTIA audio jack, power/unlock button, volume rocker and micro USB port for data and charging. Expect nothing at the bottom.

The left and right sides of the device have the same story as it's bottom.

The package also includes 1.5 amperes USB charger, micro USB to USB port, USB OTG cable and some instructionals. As the device is a WiFi-only tablet, you can still have an option to place your USB 3G dongle on this device and these are the supported devices.

Before we had a hands-on, we don't have any idea on what processor is inside the tablet. The Antutu and CPU-Z benchmark apps are parallel in their results as it has 1.5 GHz AllWinner A33 quad-core processor with Mali-400 MP2 GPU. Antutu verified score is 17,159 which is not bad for the price but I wonder on it's real life performance.

First impressions: I don't have the photos but when I checked the device, it has the UI of a typical Android ICS tablet including the file manager. My one "thumbs down" thing that I checked is only 1 GB of app storage out of 4 GB ROM that's why I hestitated to load a big game to check it's performance. The device has 512 MB RAM. If you'll gonna use it for social media, some document writings and media (it can play Full HD MP4 videos via MX Player with no issues at all), it is snappy.

Ekotek Ekotab Encore 2 is already available in it's regular SRP of Php 2,999* but for an introductory offer ongoing right now until May, 31 2015 you can have this device for Php 2,499 (this price is only effective in Ekotek kiosks, Shopwise and online stores)

*- available in SM Malls in Megamall, Fairview, North EDSA, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa and also in Victory Mall Pasay, Anson's The Link, Anson's Cash and Carry, all Shopwise branches and select Office Warehouse stores.
