Almost a month ago, I was on my 2nd time with MyPhone's traditional meet-up with bloggers and this year joined with friends from TV, radio and print media. I had some stories to tell which I'm happy to share with you.
First from my co-tech bloggers. Compared from last year, 4 other tech bloggers were not there this year but good thing, I got some good company with first timers JM of MobileTechPinoy, Bon of Taragis and David from Semicurrent and Gadget Pilipinas. Peter and Angel from GeekyPinas were also there to complete the cast in the room that we chose. Anjie of Teknogadyet was also there but stayed for a few hours before heading out on Manila. That time, we stayed at Ilang Ilang Room
From my experience last year, I learned to bring both Globe and Smart LTE prepaid sims. It turned out that Globe has a better signal at our place for 2 days. I even got a download speed of 9 mbps when I downloaded a file on HSPA+ connection and it is stable all throughout the 27-28 hours that we stayed there. Not bad even that there's no LTE on both telcos yet. That was the key that some of us instantly posted the 4 upcoming MyPhone devices just minutes after it was shown on screen. (Note: not sponsored from any of the two telcos)
Same with last year, I felt the warmth and hospitality of the people behind Rancho Elena from it's service, food and almost everything.
The traditional introduction was there to meet other people from the media. From my experience, there's no friction happened between the trad and online media. The day will not be completer with some "keynotes" from MyPhone officials (including their upcoming devices).
There were 3 games that played including inspired from Pinoy Henyo, 4-way tug of war and inspired from Amazing Race. I am happy that my group won at tug of war, my 1st time that I won at this yearly MyPhone event.
In one game, there's even a black smoke that was near in our area. Thanks to IG and Twitter, I found out that there's a fire somewhere in SLEX but not a problem in that event.
Evening was the time for dinner, announcement, MyPhone President Mr. Jaime Alcantara's own keynote and performances from RED Talents. One of the anticipated treats was the the performance of Kris Angelica. Unlike the last time, we got a better sound system that night and really appreciated her viral version of Sirena and her rendition of Sia's Chandeliers - one of the reasons why Sia's 1000 Forms of Fear was on my heavy rotation in the past few weeks on Spotify.
Enjoyment time from late night till the wee hours of 2nd day of the event. I had no idea that time that while I'm on solo in our room and headbanged on Foo Fighters 2015 concert in Brazil, my co-tech bloggers were already taped in one spot in the area for The CP Republic on Youtube. I also had some time for chit chat with some RED Talents. The longest was with Paulo Schuck (which he also related to Kapuso actress Empress) as his unique way of guitar playing and singing that brought him at that event. I left off my own musical differences compared to his own genre as I really enjoyed our conversation about music plus his still good looking MyPhone Iceberg Mini which I recently found out that it has USB OTG. I brought back some memories from the MyPhone Iceberg event in Eastwood last 2013
Sunday morning when we chose to left the area via the local brand's service van, Last 2014 is not bad at all but their 2015 offering is better for me. That really adds up another excitement inside of me when MyPhone will gonna it next year and for years to come.
