The front has 5 MP AF front camera (that's the first surprise) and 5 inch IPS HD display. The back has 13 MP AF rear camera with flash. This device is powered by 1.4 GHz Mediatek MT6592 octa-core processor. The back cover has matte finish with a bit of sandstone texture which is good. At this point, I'm already impressed by this less than 4k phone.
The top part has 3.5 mm. audio jack which is CTIA compliant and the USB OTG capable micro USB port. The bottom has the mic for calls and voice/video recording. Now I knew that this is a curved device which reminds me of the Cherry Mobile Infinix Pure. The metal frame is also not that cheap based on my look and grip.
The left part has the volume up and down buttons while it's the power/unlock button at the right section.
Sorry for the left part of this pic but to explain this to you, I got the pic of the app storage which is the most generous that I found of all the phones with 8 GB ROM that I found at 6.1 GB. That's unified storage to the max and that's +1 from me to this device. When you gonna remove the back cover, you can see a 1 regular SIM slot, 1 micro SIM slot and micro SD slot with the 2,500 mAh remoable Li-iOn battery. For this set-up, no chance for hot swapping the micro SD and the SIMs which is -1 for me.
Even though that this device is running on Android 4.4 Kitkat, the app drawer looks like the one from Android Lollipop. What I praised on this device when I discovered their own version of ultra power saving mode (which they called it as screen saving mode) which can turn it's screen to black and white. How I wish that I can had a review unit soon as I wanna see this feature if it is as effective as the other counterparts from Samsung.
When my fellow tech blogger Randolph Novino of Pinoyscreencast discussed this thing on Big Time Show podcasts, some of the hosts at that time were kinda confused and I already have an idea to this issue. The specs said that it has 13 MP AF rear camera but only on 4:3 aspect ratio. When you gonna switch it on full screen mode, it can only maxed out to 9.5 MP.
Because of that discovery. I had to bring in an additional camera sample for you who are possibly gonna buy this soon . This was taken in a morning in Rancho Elena during the bloggers and media event of another local mobile phone brand. The rear camera has f/2.2 aperture while it's f/2.8 aperture for the front camera. The front camera is a-ok for my taste compared to the Phoenix X1.

I also had a 30 minute gaming while on the road as I played NBA 2K14. The game ran smoothly and after the game, I only felt a lil amount of heat. Based from my first impressions, looks like this device has some little cons for it's price and specs ratio. Two of the things that you have to check is a bit difficult to open the back casing plus it is a lil thin. Another is the screen which is really prone to finger prints so better to have a finger print-resistant screen protector.
Special thanks to Peter and Angel of geekypinas.com for the time that they gave to me in checking the SKK Mobile Lynx
