Urbanears Plattan unboxing and review

Brand new start for 2015 as I;m currently looking into a good-looking and good-sounding wired headphones. Out of nowhere, I discovered the Urbanears Plattan as I remembered that usually saw these headphones from one of my fave bars in the selfie capital. Good thing that it's distributor here, Digits Trading gave me a chance to check this one out.

This is the box of the Plattan which comes with instrruction manual, sticker, warranty and of course the headphones. I chose to use the black for simplicity purposes.

You can check the left and right cups of the headphone. On the left is where the cloth-covered cables with 1.3 to 1.4 meters of length which is good for tall people like me. It is also tangle free so no problems on wherever you want to place this after you already had your listening sessions. The right cup has their own feature named "ZoundPlug" which you can allow your friend or loved one to plug a 3.5 mm CTIA-capable earphone/headphone so that he/she can also listen to your fave song or podcast. It is also a great option when you're into a movie marathon using a tablet and you don't to disturb others. I tried the ZoundPlug capability and there's no difference to what you are gonna hear on the Plattan (of course, it depends on the quality of your earphone/headphone)

The Plattan is collapsible which means you can fold it and shape like a size of a fist. The "arc" like part of the device is also covered with cloth which means additional comfort unlike those with synthetic-like leather covering. Three Urbanears markings are also visible on the device. At my first test was the comfort that the cushions on the cups will gonna bring to my big ears. Some headphones gonna give me some pain after listening after 2-3 hours. Good thing, almost not at all when I had a podcast marathon using my smartphone. Noise isolation is average for me. There is also mic for calls which is also great based on the number of calls that I had. The play/pause/previous/next track functions for music playback is integrated into one single button. Press once for play/pause, press 2 times quickly for next track and press 3 times quickly for previous track. It works nicely into my full CTIA capable smartphone.

The sound quality? I noticed that this thing works best for tracks with drums, percussions and synth. which can be associated in rock, alternative or EDM. I listened from almost all genres of music. No wonder that some guys from the bar that I said that love alternative/rock music mostly use this. The bass is also good but not overpowering. You can check out my audio references below.

For comfort, noise isolation, overall look and sound quality - I'll gonna give the Urbanears Plattan a 4.5 out of 5. You can buy it via Lazada Philippines or your nearest fave tech shops. The official SRP is Php 2,950

Specs and features: 40 mm. handmade drivers, frequency response 20Hz-20kHz, Impedance 60 , sensitivity 115 dB, max input power 50 mW, ZoundPlug feature, 120 cm. tangle free cord, compatible for Android, iPhone, HTC and Blackberry
