The device has about 90% pure Android Kitkat with some familar squar-ish app icons which is present from their latest Rio smartphones and to the Infinity Lite. Coz it is only FWVGA display, I didn't experience slowdowns when I tried various app transitions and to the main menu.
The call and messaging UI are as the same as to the Infinity Lite. No problems in incoming and outgoing calls as the call quality is a-ok. No touch problems also on the keyboard when I sent some SMS.
Good thing that the 3.5 mm. audio jack is CTIA compatible so pairing with your fave 3rd party earphone is easy.
On benchmarks, the device has 1.3 Ghz Mediatek MT6582 quad-core chipset with Mali 400 GPU. The 2-point multi touch might be a problem for some gamers. What's impressive was the 6 out of 9 available sensors. You can check out the pictures below for the benchmarks
On my usual battery test, I put up on various HD videos on mp4 as I played it on MX Player with earphones, no bluetooth/3G/WiFi, lowest phone brightness, MX Player brightness at 6 and volume at 10 and the 2,000 mAh battery is really great which I got 10 hours and 1 minute from 100% to 2% . On LTE only test with screen always on with lowest phone brightness, I got 4 hours and 20 minutes from 100% to 2% battery which is nice over the previous local LTE smartphone that I handled at 3 hours and 40 minutes.
On the camera side, this one has f/2.8 aperture on the 5 MP rear camera which I noticed that it is a bit high on saturation. The front camera is not as great compared to other 2 MP cameras that I found in other local smartphones. Here are my camera samples
On connectivity side, that was a mixed bag for me. The official specs don't have a detail if this device supports both Globe and Smart LTE so I had to discover. Based on Mediatek Engineering Mode, it has band 1 and 3 (which is the same as to Cherry Mobile Ultra - means the device can have LTE on both networks). Globe LTE has no problems for this device. I got no LTE signal on using it on the usual Smart LTE areas that I went from my previous reviews. To the point that I had to bring this device to one sure-ball place with Smart LTE signal which is the Smart Experience center in Megamall and still no 4G. I hope MyPhone will gonna address my discovery soon. On Globe LTE, I don't have the same numbers of Mbps (highest at 5 Mbps at speedtest) compared to the previous LTE smartphone with a Quallcomm chip that I handled which can go beyond 10 Mbps.
For a 4.5 inch dual sim LTE capable device, average rear camera plus long battery life are the pros of this device. That connectivity issue to Smart will be the con that must be checked (or hoping for a better 4G handset soon). I'll gonna give a 3.5 out of 5 for the MyPhone Rio LTE
