DTI promotes art entrepreneurship with Sikat Pinoy National Art Fair 2014

The Department of Trade & Industry Bureau of Domestic Trade (DTI-BDT) organizes national domestic trade fairs to provide Filipino entrepreneurs with a venue to showcase their products and expand their market presence.
This year, for the first time, the Sikat Pinoy National Art Fair will highlight the creative industries to promote art entrepreneurship. This event will be held from September 26 to 28 at the SM Megatrade Halls 1&2 in Mandaluyong City.

The Sikat Pinoy National Art Fair will bring together different art forms, including paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, the performing arts, literature, music, and more. Fine crafts from the regions will also be available for sale.

Art collectors will be able to make their picks from a wide selection of artworks and fine crafts. Corporate event planners and party organizers will be able to network with performers, musicians, dancers, film makers, and other creative professionals for their future requirements. Students of the humanities and aspiring artists will find inspiration from the different works showcased at the event.

The venue will be transformed to create a community environment, with the exhibits grouped into clusters. As one enters the hall, a major art installation by Filipina sculptor Impy Pilapil will be part of the registration foyer. To the right will be the display of fine crafts from the different regions, with a special setting featuring the recipients of the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan or National Living Treasures Award.

The perimeter areas will be dedicated to Visual Arts exhibits by art galleries, art organizations, and non-government organziations offering art-related services. In this section will be a special exhibit of works by some of our National Artists for Painting and Sculpture.

Six clusters in the middle will be dedicated to Music, Film, Dance, Theater, Literary Arts, and Museums. Pockets of open spaces will be provided with seating to encourage engagement, encounters and discussion among the artists and guests.

For the duration of the 3-day Sikat Pinoy National Art Fair, there will be performances from featured artists, talks and book launchings, as well as film showings. For more information, contact the DTI-Bureau of Domestic Trade at telephone no. 751-3223, fax no. 751-3224, or email bdt@dti.gov.ph.
