Taste Run: Kessaku Alabang Japanese restaurant food review

It’s been a long while that I ate in a full pledged Japanese restaurant especially it is rare at the South Metro. Good thing, Ms. Kathy Kenny of Life Is Kulayful invited me and the rest of bloggers for a night out on something Kessaku Alabang has to offer

Kessaku Alabang started last October 2013. At first, the owners wanted to open it at the nearby Alabang Town Center until they checked that the The Commerce Center inside Filinvest City is already a sweet spot either coming from parts of Metro Manila or thru Laguna as it is near the Filinvest City exit of SLEX.

The friendly and “at your service mode” crew there helped us by introducing more than 10 dishes that we will gonna test but first, we had an appetizer.

Dish No. 1: Sake Sashimi -  As said in their menu that it is from superior grade Norweigan Salmon. It is true. I can really taste the goodness of the said fish as I tried only at first by dipping it in light soy sauce then I added a bit of wasabi to my dip and it is still so delicious

Dish No. 2: California Maki – This is one teaser that Ms. Kathy posted the night before we had this dish. The burst of different yet delicious ingredients inside of it had their own good interpretation into my taste buds. Imagine me as a rock singer as I close my eyes to goodness of their own  take to this known Japanese dish

Dish No. 3: Tiger Roll - My 2nd sushi for the night. Although with a different set of  ingredients compare to the first one, it also as delicious as California Maki.  Nothing really bad that I can say for my 3rd Japanese food. The crabsticks inside is something that you cannot taste with those in frozen mode in supermarkets. Unagi and avocado also gave me the curiosity to try this mouth-watering stuff.

Dish No. 4 : Foi Gras Roll – I never imagined that Foi Gras can be in a marriage with the sushi as well as I tried to eat eel for the first time. I can feel from my mouth that the eel is really high grade as well as the other factors there. A light soy sauce dip is already great enough for me. They said that it is particular type of sushi is only available there at Kessaku so we were very lucky to experience it.

Dish No. 5: Spider Roll – Japanese rice + soft shell crab + crabsticks + built in teriyaki sauce equals another unqiue and mouth-watering sushi. Also a must-try inside Kessaku Alabang

Dish No. 6: Symphony – When I saw this for the first time, the one thing that I asked to the owners and my fellow bloggers on how can we eat this using chopsticks. This dish is made from fried sushi rice with layers of spicy tune, spicy salmon and crabstick. It has a right mix of spicyness to compliment the mix of the seafoods mentioned. Another nice Japanese alternative that I can finish an entire plate of it.

Dish No. 7: Sukiyaki – The Filipino inside of me released thru this Japanese bowl as I have a deep love into viands with soup and it follows to this another Japanese favorite. The broth is tasty and delicious, thanks to the U.S. Tenderloin and choice veggies. The friendly Kessaku crew is happy to assist if you need to divide the food depends on how many are you there on the table.

Dish No. 8: Chicken Yakitori – The chicken is tender and the nice kick of Japanese-inspired sauce inside of it made me put another check for this Japanese dish. I’m not sure though but it has a nice infused flavor of pandan. Right amount of serving at an affordable price.

Dish No. 9: Angus Prime Chahan – Move over Chao Fan as this one of the reasons that my stomach became bigger instantly thanks to the melts-in-your-mouth rice and the cubed Angus beef in the mix. This might be my favorite if I gonna come back there and I really need a carbo boost

Dish No. 10: Mixed Kamameshi – It has some similarities of the previous dish but with more veggies mostly which the diagonally sliced green beans.  It is also as good as Angus Prime Chahan

Dish No. 11 – Kaikage Teppan – Is my tummy already full at that time? Not yet as I got some space for this uninque Teppan from this tasty battered oysters. I’m not yet a big fan of oysters but even though that it is already cooked, you can savor the freshness of the said seafood after each bite.

Dish No.12: Tempura – their pride to this well-known Japanese food as they used black tiger prawns. Some said that once you tasted it, this will be your new highest standard against other tempuras around. After 2 bites, I also got the difference. From the shrimp, it’s big size and even the batter that they used compliments to the prawn. They even gave us a try by a Lime & Volcanic Salt dip and it is great as pairing it to my staple light soy sauce dip  that night.

After the round-up, no wonder that many Japanese nationals from Laguna will drive to this part of Alabang as well as known celeb couple Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzales dropped by to this very special and heart-warming Japanese restaurant. They are open everyday as you can check the sked at their Facebook page by searching Kessaku Alabang on Facebook and Instagram.

Again, thank you Ms. Kathy Kenny and the men and women of Kessaku Alabang for this wonderful Japanese food adventure.

Based on the dishes that I tried, I will give it 5 out of 5. From the presentation to the very delicious Japanese offerings, it is really value for money as you can download or check their menu in their Facebook fan page

How To Go To Kessaku in Alabang?

Kessaku Alabang is located in the ground floor of The Commercenter, Commerce Avenue, Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City (in front of Acacia Hotel) . For those who have wheels, you can use Filinvest Exit of SLEX then look for Commerce Avenue. For commuters, the best way is to use the Chef’s Avenue exit of Festival Supermall (until 9pm) then the straight pathway will lead you to Commerce Avenue.
