Mother Nature has a very important message to all of us netizens. Did you notice that we are having a hotter summer this year unlike in the previous years and decades? Ever wonder of the abnormal arrivals of rainfalls and typhoons? If you say yes, it is because of the worsening case of global warming. How can you determine that you are become a part of this problem? If you are giving a high amount of carbon footprint (or CF)
What is a carbon footprint (CF)? It is a total set of greenhouse gases emissions caused by a product, event, organization or person. By simple terms, your carbon footprint will be measured based on how you act as a person in everyday life especially in things that are running thru energy like your electricity in your house. If you're currently using earth-friendly products and things running from renewable sources (like water, solar power etc) then "Congratulations! You are only giving low amounts of CF to Mother Nature
So how can you and your friends help lessen your CF every year? There are many simple tips that you can do everyday. As an added bonus, you can also save some money by doing these things. If you and your friends have vehicles, go for a carpool. If you are commuting and living within NCR, good for you. Use the mass mode of transportation but if possible, go for greener types of vehicles like riding in an MRT or LRT , e-trikes & e-jeepneys, ordinary or CNG-powered buses and LPG taxi cabs. If you have an old-school TV (with that big bump at the back of your TV set), it's better to switch now to LCD TV. In buying appliances aside from quality, choose the one with the highest energy efficient ratio especially in refrigerators and aircons. Iron your clothes once a week at least in a night coz it's a bit cooler to do that chore plus you're also enjoying the off-peak rates of your electrical company. Here's my personal tip for all you with mobile phones: Turn off your screensavers and don't put up animated wallpapers (as these features are eating some amount of your phone battery) and if you already put your phone in vibration mode for incoming calls and messages, what's the sense of having sound alerts? Put it up in silent mode
