I still had two Blackview smartphones that I tested way back from their recent launch event so let’s fire it away as I took a closer look to the Blackview V3.

Good thing during the launch of Blackview smartphones in the
Philippines, I was able to do a lil observation of probably my fave
among the 8 devices they have so far, the Blackview DM550.
Three reasons why I love it based on specs, the 5.5 inch IPS HD display ( I prefer HD for now for an Mediatek octa-core rather than FHD), dual AF cameras and 2,600 maH battery

This is the front and back portions of the box. As said in one of my related blog posts, all Blackview smartphones have 13 months warranty and it’s key specs. By the way, the package also has a free screen protector, smart flip cover and USB OTG cable plus the usual ones like the micro USB to USB cable, travel charger, earphones, manual and warranty papers
Here are the front and back portions of the phone. The front camera is located at the upper left portion and quite narrow bezels. The back cover doesn’t occupy it’s whole version when you open it as the lining is visible. The back cover is made of plastic but it’s texture reminds me a bit of a typical sofa. The camera doesn’t have the “plump” factor so no problem if you gonna put it on a table. I discovered that it has dual 3G sim slots.
The top and bottom portions. The top has the USB OTG capable micro USB slot and CTIA-certified 3.5 mm. audio jack. The bottom part has dual speakers. The pin hole mic is sneaking on the right speaker as if you can see an actual unit, it is a bit bigger compared to it’s surrounding holes.
The left part has the volume rocker while on the right is the power/unlock button.
This has Android 4.4.2 Kitkat out of the box. The pic beside of it bares more of it’s USB OTG function and the 10.5 GB of phone storage which I wonder if it does have unified storage.
And to this picture
answered my question, it doesn’t have unified storage as you can check
the app storage has about 3 GB of space. The actual RAM is kinda fair
compared to their published one at 1 GB RAM.
These are the sneak peek of the camera interface. The 13 MP AF rear camera supports only 4:3 ratio as if you will choose the full screen option, it will go down to over 9 MP. Same goes with the 5 MP at the said aspect ratio as it will go down to 4 MP if full screen is enabled.
I had time to do some of the benchmark tests like for Antutu and CPU-Z
And here are the 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera samples of the Blackview DM 550 shot at not so bright venue for a purpose. The rear camera has f/2.2 aperture and it is quite quick shutter speed. The front camera has f/2.8 aperture.
I also have a 1080p video sample which I will update on this blog post asap. As a hint, I checked that it has 16.67 FPS which it’s a bit higher than others at 15 fps.
Special thanks to Anjie of Teknogadyet for allowing me to play on the Blackview DM 550
