Vivo V5 Plus Unboxing, First Impressions, Benchmarks, Camera Samples

Vivo V5 Plus just became official in the country a few moments ago and I got the first of Vivo's first smartphone here with dual front camera.

Unlike with V5, the V5 Plus has more of flat, square-ish box. No surprise that the 20 MP dual front camera will be the headliner at the front.

When I took my first look, oh the front reminds me of another 5.5 inch phablet from their selfie phone rival but the differences will be the placings of sensors and the number of front camera. The 20 MP is the main selfie shooter while the 8 MP has other things to do which you will find later. Of course, the fingerprint reader/home button is at the bottom. At the back, the antenna lines are at the top compared to the V5 which is under the primary camera. Vivo branding is present too. The whole body itself is has right proportion in terms of weight and has a slight edge over the V5 in terms of premium feel

At the left, there's the hybird dual SIM tray. The right side has the volume rocker and power/unlock button.

Nothing at the top but the noticeable thing at that view was the camera bump. The bottom is full packed with 3.5 mm. audio jack, pin hole microphone, OTG capable micro USB port and speaker

There's a reason on that box as you will get a pair of earphones, micro USB to USB cable, Travel charger which has 5V 2A and 9V 2A outputs (yes, it has quick charge support), sim card ejector, user manual and warranty and the jelly case which will gonna save you for some damage on that camera bump.

Funtouch OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow which is already a familar territory if you have either the Vivo Y55 or Vivo V5.  Display is beautiful as expected on it's 5.5 inch IPS Full HD display.

I had limited time to play on this thing so I jumped right in on the benchmarks. It has 10 point multi touch, scored almost at 63,000 on Antutu from it's Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC and has 7 out of 9 sensors including gyro

It not just the selfie camera will be the main story on this phone but the main camera is also worth mentioning. Just got wowed at 7 available options and a total of 45 available filters divided in 5 categories. As I went in professional mode, it can go up to 3200 ISO and shutter speed of up to 32 seconds. Curious to test this one on light photography.

V5 Plus will have a level up in selfie camera race as because of the additonal 8 MP front camera, the bokeh that is usually found on dual main cameras can now be on use on this phablet. It has HDR too and softlight flash. If there is one limit here, you cannot enable HDR, Bokeh and softlight flash all at the same. For the bokeh selfie camera sample, you will have the option to set the aperture which works best when in set at f/2.8. In default, it has f/2.0 aperture. No wonder that I got a number of camera samples including the selfies than usual.

When I found out that it's powered by Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor which is pretty good high midrange SoC, it was not only the other selfie phone will be a good match up with but with the current available phones with the same SoC from Asus and Moto.  Definitely, it has a wow factor for me compared to the V3 Max and I can't wait to do a full review on this one soon.
